chinese chives

ingredients
2-3 T oil
1/2 lb. chives, washed (at least twice), cut into 1.5 – 2 inch pieces
***(if there are flowers, trim them off)***
1/4 lb. pork or beef, cut into thin threads
1 carrot, julienne
5-6 mushrooms, thinly sliced
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 thin slice of ginger (optional)
1 T cooking wine
1-2 T oyster sauce
1 T soysauce
salt
pepper
sesame oil

directions

  1. on medium heat, heat the wok and pour 2-3 T oil in. when the wok gets hot, mix in meat and cook until just barely done. dish it out and set aside.
  2. add 2 T oil, heat it and add in ginger, garlic, and carrots. stir for a couple of minutes. add a small amount of water if needed. add chives and mushrooms and stir for a couple of minutes. then add the rest of the seasonings: salt, pepper, soysauce, and oyster sauce.
  3. add the meat and stir in 3-4 drops of sesame oil.
  4. turn the heat off and dish out the chives to serve.
